Ege University is a public research university in Bornova, İzmir, founded in 1955 as Türkiye’s fourth university and the first university in the Aegean region. It combines education, research and major health services on an integrated campus.
Ege University was established in Bornova, İzmir in 1955, initially with the Faculties of Medicine and Agriculture. Its official 2025–2026 presentation reports 19 faculties, 10 institutes, three schools, one State Turkish Music Conservatory, 10 vocational schools and 36 application and research centres. The university community includes 56,404 students and 3,283 teaching staff. Ege holds full institutional accreditation and plays a major research, healthcare and public-service role in İzmir and the Aegean region. Its campus includes laboratories, libraries, health, cultural and sports facilities, and accommodation and dining services; the language of instruction depends on the program.
